Documents + Payments Email Delivery Stripe Connected Accounts

Collect Payments

Send a legal document and a payment request in one workflow.

Create a document, add the amount due, email the client a payment link, optionally attach the file, and track the request from your dashboard. It works for lease agreements, eviction notices, invoices, and other legal forms you need to send out with payment instructions.

Delivery

Email + Link

Send the document and payment request together.

Tracking

Open to Paid

Monitor request status from the payments dashboard.

Payouts

Via Stripe

Bank account and payout settings stay in Stripe.

How it looks in practice

A client-ready payment request email

Subject

Payment Request for Lease Agreement

Attachment included

The client gets your message, the attached document, and a payment link in the same email, plus a reply-to path back to the sender if they have questions.

Client

Jordan Lee

jordanlee@example.com

Amount Due

$1,250.00 USD

Security deposit for signed lease

Attached document

Residential Lease Agreement.pdf

Pay with the payment link
The full workflow is designed to feel like one polished send, not a separate document email followed by a disconnected payment request.
Lease Agreements

Lease Agreements

Send the lease, attach the PDF, and collect a deposit or move-in payment from the same email.

Good for residential leases, room rental agreements, and property onboarding packets.

Eviction Notices

Eviction Notices

Deliver the notice and include a payment option when the situation involves a past-due balance or settlement amount.

Keeps the document and the payment request tied together in one tracked workflow.

Invoices and Service Forms

Invoices and Service Forms

Send an invoice-style document, add the amount due, and let the client pay through the payment link.

Works well for contractors, consultants, freelancers, and small business document requests.

Before You Start

What your account needs first

  • An active LegalTemplates subscription. Trialing subscriptions count while the trial is active.
  • A connected Stripe account for payment collection and payouts.
  • A dashboard document to send, plus the client name and client email.
  • A payment amount in USD and an optional message explaining the request.
New Stripe connected accounts can go through a review period before payments or payouts are fully enabled. Many reviews finish faster, but some can take a few business days.

Process

How collect payments works

1

Create or open a document

Start with a template such as a lease agreement, eviction notice, invoice, or another form already saved in your dashboard.

2

Connect your Stripe account

Turn on payments from the dashboard. Your payout bank account, payout schedule, and Stripe review status all live inside Stripe.

3

Enter client details and amount

Add the client name, client email, payment amount in USD, and an optional note that explains what the request is for.

4

Send the email with the payment link

LegalTemplates can email the client automatically, include the document as an attachment, and place the payment link directly inside the message.

5

Track status and get notified

See whether the request is open, paid, expired, or canceled. When payment is received, both the sender and client receive confirmation emails.

After The Send

What the workflow covers for both sides

This is more than a raw payment link. The document, the email, the request status, and the confirmation messages all stay tied together so the sender and recipient know what happened next.

What your client receives

An email with your document, a clear message about why they are being billed, and a payment link they can open from any device.

What happens after payment

The payment request updates in your dashboard, the client gets a receipt-style confirmation, and you get a paid notification email.

Where funds and payouts are managed

Stripe handles the connected account, review process, bank account setup, and payouts. LegalTemplates handles the document and request workflow.

Does the client receive the document and the payment link together?

Yes. You can send the email automatically, include the document as an attachment, and place the payment link in the same email so the request feels cohesive instead of pieced together.

Can I still create a payment link without emailing it automatically?

Yes. You can generate the payment request and choose to share the payment link manually instead of sending the email from LegalTemplates.

When do I get paid?

Funds and payouts are handled through your connected Stripe account. Stripe may review new connected accounts before turning on payments or payouts, and some reviews can take a few business days.

Ready To Try It

Create the document, send the request, and let the client pay from the same email.

Start with a document in your dashboard, connect Stripe for payouts, then send a payment request that feels polished and trackable from the moment it goes out.
