- Resolve disputes and enforce our agreements
- Fulfill any other legitimate business purpose
When your personal information is no longer needed, we will securely delete or anonymize it.
Invoice and Recipient Data
When an account holder creates or sends an invoice, the account holder decides which recipient details and payment instructions to provide and is responsible for having a lawful basis to use that information. LegalTemplates.com provides the invoice software and processes that information on the account holder's instructions. Invoice records may be retained for up to approximately seven years by default to support tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, and legal obligations, subject to applicable law. Account holders can delete unfinalized drafts and can remove recipient contact and address data from a finalized invoice through the invoice workspace. Encrypted payment instructions are stored for the account holder's use. Stripe and other payment providers retain payment information under their own policies.
Document Review Uploads
When you upload a document to our AI document review service, we store the uploaded file and its extracted text in order to analyze it and, if you choose, produce a paid revision. For reviews without a purchased revision, the uploaded file and its extracted text are automatically deleted after 30 days. Documents associated with a purchased revision are retained in your account so you can access your revised document and its related deliverables.
PDF Editor Assists
The PDF editor offers optional assists you invoke one at a time. When you use "Explain a clause", the paragraph you clicked (and the document's title) is sent to our third-party AI providers to produce a plain-English reading; the rest of the document is not sent. Explanations are cached by the wording of the clause for up to 7 days so the same wording is not sent again, and a record of the request without the clause text is kept for usage and abuse monitoring. The reading is general information about the wording in front of you, not legal advice.
"Check for blanks" and "Fill from my details" run without any AI provider. "Fill from my details" reads your own profile and the answers you gave in documents you created with us, proposes them for empty fields only, and fills a field only when you confirm it. "Get a document review" sends the current version of the document to our document review service and is covered by the "Document Review Uploads" terms above.
Court Format Reformatting Uploads
When you upload a document to be laid out on court pleading paper ("Reformat a document"), we store the uploaded file, the text extracted from it (including text read by optical character recognition for scanned uploads), the state, court, and title you optionally enter, the email address you give us for the ready notice, and the reformatted PDF and Word files we render. The extracted text is sent to our third-party AI providers for classification only — to label which passages are the court name, the parties, the case number, the title, headings, and paragraphs — and the provider's answer is checked word for word against your text before anything is rendered; the provider does not rewrite the document. If the classification cannot be verified, a rule-based fallback runs without any AI provider.
The uploaded file, its extracted text, the structure map, and the reformatted copies are automatically deleted after 30 days unless you save the document to your dashboard; a record of the request without the document content is kept for usage and abuse monitoring. A document you save to your dashboard is stored with your other dashboard documents and follows the retention and deletion rules that apply to them, including deletion when you delete the document or your account.
Court Case Data
When you create a case in the Case Workspace, we store the case caption you confirm (court, county, case number, judge, and your role), the names and roles of the parties — including other parties who are not our users — the court dates you enter, the documents you attach to the case, and, if you choose to answer them, optional "where things stand" questions. Those optional answers may include categories you declare about your situation (for example, that the matter involves children, criminal charges, immigration status, or safety concerns); we ask for them only to tailor the case review, and you can leave them blank or change them at any time.
When you request a "Review My Case" review, the case caption (court, county, case number, judge), party names and roles, the dates and titles you entered (sent as typed), your optional answers, a limited set of the answers you typed into generated forms, and the text of the documents in the case are sent to our third-party AI providers to produce the review. Before sending, we attempt to remove common contact-detail patterns (such as email addresses, phone numbers, street addresses, dates of birth, and identification numbers) from document text and typed answers; this is best-effort and may not catch every format. Party contact fields are never sent. Scanned or image-only uploads are not read. We store the structured review output, not the provider's raw text, which is kept only briefly for troubleshooting.
You can delete any individual review, or the entire case, at any time from the case page; deleting a case removes its parties, dates, and reviews, while your own documents remain in your account. For cases you have marked closed or archived, party and date details and the content of case reviews are automatically deleted after 365 days without activity. Deleting your account removes all case data.

11. Children's Privacy
Our Website is not intended for children under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete such information.

IMPORTANT: Document previews are provided before purchase. By completing a purchase after viewing the preview, you confirm you reviewed the document shown; dissatisfaction after purchase is addressed by the 7-day money-back guarantee on your first payment and does not create refund rights after that window.
Your payment information is processed securely through our third-party payment processor, Stripe. We do not store your full credit card details on our servers.
